Our Montessori Programs
Hughen Christian School offers a nurturing, academically rich environment rooted in the Montessori method. Serving children from PK4 through 2nd grade, our school is designed to help each student thrive through hands-on exploration, personalized learning, foreign language instruction, and a high-quality fine arts education. Our classrooms are calm, engaging, and intentionally prepared to support the natural development of young minds.
Hughen Christian School offers two core academic tracks:
Primary Montessori Program (PK4–Kindergarten)
Elementary Montessori Program (1st & 2nd Grade)
Both tracks are grounded in the Montessori philosophy, which encourages independence, self-discipline, and joyful discovery. Children are guided by trained, degreed educators who observe their interests and adapt the learning experience to help them progress at their own pace, academically, socially, and emotionally.
Our Program Offerings
Foreign Language Enrichment
Starting in the early years, children develop listening and speaking skills in foreign languages, expanding their global perspective.
Holistic Progress Assessments
We do not issue traditional report cards. Instead, families receive regular updates that reflect the whole child’s development—intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically.
Zero-Tolerance Bullying Policy
We are committed to fostering a culture of kindness, empathy, and safety. Every child deserves to feel secure and respected in their learning environment.
Hands-On Learning & Exploration
Children actively engage with tactile materials and real-world concepts to develop a deep understanding through experience, not memorization.
Qualified, Trained, & Degreed Educators
Our classrooms are led by passionate teachers who are trained in Montessori philosophy and certified to guide students through every stage of development.
Primary Montessori Program
( PK4-Kindergarten )
In our Primary Program, children build the essential skills for lifelong learning. Each day is structured to foster independence, encourage movement, and invite exploration. Through a carefully curated environment and developmentally appropriate materials, students develop early literacy, numeracy, and practical life skills.
The classroom is a mixed-age setting, allowing younger children to learn from older peers and build confidence as they grow into leadership roles. Lessons are presented individually or in small groups, tailored to each child’s readiness. Language development is enhanced through early exposure to Mandarin, which encourages curiosity about different cultures.
Elementary Montessori Program
( 1st & 2nd Grade )
As students transition into the Elementary Program, their capacity for abstract thinking, collaboration, and creativity begins to flourish. Our curriculum deepens to include project-based learning, integrated subjects, and enriched cultural studies, all delivered in alignment with Montessori principles.
In addition to foreign language classes, elementary students begin violin instruction, which enhances fine motor skills, discipline, and an appreciation for the arts. Our educators support each child’s unique academic journey while fostering character, leadership, and community responsibility.
Assessment continues through individualized progress reports, parent-teacher conferences, and ongoing observation—never standardized testing or letter grades.
